Tweeting teen can handle public life
After reading this article one passage stood out and will not leave me. The passage is about how teens code their messages and hide their true message. I did not have a Twitter account before this class and still don’t know a lot about how it works, but do people really do this? I have never heard about this before reading the article. So I guess my question is do people (teens) really do this?
Some teens might actually “code” their messages, but I think along those lines also fits the idea of using inside jokes. They aren’t necessarily coding their message, but are sharing something that other people won’t understand, but close friends will. I know that on my personal twitter my friends will post stuff that makes absolutely no sense to an outside reader, but will make perfect sense to me or someone else who knows them really well. In that way it might seem like they are coding their tweets. I have also seen people use different words to mean different things though if they don’t want to be blatant about something, especially if it isn’t something they want certain people to know, or isn’t generally acceptable.
